2%-3% molybdenum (Mo) element is added to the 304 base, significantly enhancing its resistance to localized corrosion.
Performance
Its mechanical properties are similar to those of 304, but its pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) is increased to over 24; its resistance to chloride, seawater, and various organic acids is greatly enhanced.
Application
Resistance to chloride ion corrosion: The addition of molybdenum makes it less prone to pitting corrosion in coastal salt spray and mild chemical media.
Hygiene and polishability: The surface is easy to achieve high smoothness, making it widely used in pharmaceuticals, food processing, and marine engineering.
